Is Tom Hardy Gay? He Says He Was Misquoted

Tom Hardy apparently doesn't mind over-sharing in his interviews. In a new Marie-Claire UK profile, Hardy, 33, addresses rumors about his sexuality that stem from a 2008 interview with Attitude magazine.

The Warrior star tells Marie-Claire that while he doesn't regret anything he's done, "It's just a shame things are misconstrued and I don't get the opportunity to explain," RadarOnline reports.

In the article in question, Attitude asks Hardy if he's ever had sexual relations with a man (he had just played a gay gangster in Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla), to which he reportedly replied "As a boy? Of course I have. I'm an actor for f**k's sake. I'm an artist. I've played with everything and everyone. But I'm not into men sexually."

But three years later the British hunk says he was misquoted and sets the record straight. "I have never put my penis in a man. I've never had a c**k in my arse, and I have no f**king desire for it. If that's what you like, cool. But it doesn't do it for me," he tells Marie-Claire.

Despite the persistent rumors, Hardy has had no trouble keeping company with women. Last year, he proposed to English actress Charlotte Riley, whom he met while playing Heathcliff to her Cathy in a 2009 television production of Wuthering Heights. He has a three-year-old son, Louis Thomas Hardy, with his previous girlfriend, assistant director Rachael Speed. And before that, he was married for four years to ex-wife Sarah Ward.
